Lazy Giants
After nearly 45 years in San Francisco’s punk scene, the Toiling Midgets have transformed into Lazy Giants. Originally named without malice from a 1979 reality TV show, the band faced lineup changes, drug issues, and critical acclaim over the years. In response to evolving times, they’ve apologized for any unintentional offenses and rebranded as Lazy Giants, a nod to their legacy with subtle ambitions. The name also pays homage to guitarist Craig Gray’s past collaboration during a Toiling hiatus in the ’80s. Their latest album, “Toiling Days Are Over,” upholds their tradition with meaty riffs and spacey abstractions, featuring experienced musicians and a younger addition, Daniel Cerny, who serves as the riveting singer at live shows. Lazy Giants look to the future with a wide-open perspective.
