Leaving a creative impact and making an artistic statement has always been the motivation behind the collaboration of Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala. The duo has been making music together for nearly 30 years. During this time, the two of them have gone through a prime example of musical evolution: they never stood still, instead their art matured and grew steadily. Omar’s epic songwriting and Cedric’s lyrical novellas complement each other perfectly, and that is ultimately what makes this band so unique and timeless. With a fan base that continuously grew due to the hype surrounding the band’s mythical live performances, the Mars Volta established themselves as one of the best progressive rock bands of all time, winning a Grammy in 2009 for the song ‘Wax Simulacra’ for Best Hard Rock Performance.
